The AC-EX70-444-KIT was one of the first HDMI-over-HDBaseT extension kits on the market to transmit 4K/60fps 4:4:4 video signals. HDR10, plus dynamic metadata formats such as Dolby Vision, HDR10+, and Hybrid Log Gamma, are transported over Cat6A copper cabling at 18Gbps, as image fidelity remains damage-free from source to display. Employing AVPro Edge’s proprietary Invisible Compression Technology algorithm, ICT, 4K/60fps signals containing high dynamic range video enhancements, with high-bitrate audio codecs, remain unaltered and artifact-free from the transport process.

It is not unusual for other products in the marketplace to use algorithms designed for use by applications accustomed to significantly lower data amounts. As a consequence, combined with category cable use, image information must be forfeited to achieve sending the signal to the display. What is typically discarded is color information supporting smooth transitions between colors with very close hues. This results in harsh delineation points, called “banding”, which are readily detectable by even casual viewers. Additional artifacts, not present in the source, are introduced, such as color shifts and motion alterations, which disturb the artistic intent of the content.

The AC-EX70-444-KIT is augmented by resourceful features such as EDID management, resolution downscaling, bidirectional IR and RS-232 signal control, onboard test pattern generation, dual 10/100 ethernet ports for LAN extension, and Left/Right audio extraction from PCM 2-channel input signals.

Invisible Compression Technology: ICT revolutionized HDMI extension technology implemented into HDBaseT. Bandwidth limitations with 4K signals sent through copper category 5E, 6, and 6A cabling are overcome by our proprietary algorithm. Compatible with all HDR and high-bitrate audio codec metadata, the highest quality display devices remain artifact-free when accepting ICT signals.

Downscaling: Scaling circuitry in the transmitter can step down 4K (including HDR metadata) to 1080p for legacy displays, especially useful in mixed resolution systems where native signal resolution is preserved for optimum performance system-wide.

EDID Management: Interoperability issues between displays and problematic AVRs or sources are easily resolved with EDID options available on the kit. EDID bypass and EDID copy simplify troubleshooting.

Test Pattern Generation: Leave your Fox & Hound at the shop? 4K and 1080p test patterns aid in rapidly identifying connectivity or EDID problems. The TX and RX units separately generate patterns to verify infrastructure integrity and system signal pass-through.

IR & RS232 Management: Infrared and RS-232 signals pass through the AC-EX70-444-KIT bidirectionally to effectively enable device control at each point. The Transmitter I-PASS port accepts a mono 3.5mm control system cable providing a secure connection for IR pass-through.

Cascade Mode: Precision HDMI signal amplification and equalization enables “daisy-chaining” two AC-EX70-444-KITs in sequence, to augment transmission distance. Bidirectional power negates the need for a transformer mid-way where the kits join, as power applied to the source-end transmitter and the display-end receiver supplies the full circuit.
